the sound of studio one can be identified by the great singers that it cultivated along the many great songs that these singers released. but as studio 1 s dominance was slowly pulled away by the up and coming new breed of producers many of the artists would inevitably end up working for these new camps and so the songs and singers found a new audience. the reggae sound of the studio 1 would make a great combination and the man to pull this was together bunny lee.

pastoral/tropical soundscapes and post-brutalist compositions by max loderbauer and jacek sienkiewicz from their ÒendÓ cd seem to evoke those situations where can actually hear objects, shapes and time flow itself, a sort of synaesthesia which erases and obliterates beginnings and ends of events, processes and phenomena. apocalyptic and contemplative spaces generated by this pair of seasoned sound creators explode genre bastions of ambient and idm, leading into the spectral areas once explored by such pioneers and popol vuh or ilhan mimaroglu. above all, etheric and extra-sensitive ÒendÓ marks the meeting of two incurable individualists, who use various tools of their trade to come up with a surprisingly atemporal effect, an insistent pulse of detail on an ever-morphing background. without vivid commentary and recognizable soundbites of the present, ÒendÓ is simultaneously an interesting projection of hopes and anxieties of the new age. core of tracks included on the record has been produced on the occasion of max and jacek appearing as a live duo during 2015Õs berlin atonal festival, which resulted in well received Òalpine-tatra-himalaianÓ ep Òridges-. remaining compositions are natural conclusion of their friendship, conversations, meetings, trips and recording sessions that operate according to the rule of free improvisation with a reduced instrumental setup.

in april of this year, donato dozzy took a set of mouth harps back to his parents house in the italian countryside and set about exploring the possibilities of that most basic of instruments. the mouth harp had been calling to dozzy ever since childhood, when he had discovered the marranzano on a holiday in sicily with this parents at the tail end of the 1970s. almost four decades later, dozzy had begun to see in this peculiar, ancient sound, the roots of the music hed been making and playing in clubs all these years.

scott mou, known as one half of the duo jane Ð the folk techno drone duo he had with panda bear - aswell as part of manhattans famous record store other music, debuts with his soloproject queens. johan jacobsen describes the wonderful music of queens in oxymorons, colorful monochrome, myopic depth, sad joy, driven slowness, enlightened darkness, universal intimacy, ethereal earthboundness ... as it should be. queens is one of those wonderful artists who are hard to catch on the fly, who escapes easy definition. his music is an unexpected and unimagined universe ready to be explored, and it s a universe that is wonderful to be in. when dial records david lieske and peter kersten listened to a performance of their new york based friend in 2009, it was one of those unforgettable unique experiences you only have once in a long while these days. the idea of releasing an album was born. the production of end times involved other labelmates such as phillip sollmann aka efdemin (recording), kassian troyer (mixing) and hendrik weber, who once joined a life performance on stage with scott mou in 2012.

the third album of the rongetz foundation, also recorded in new york, will be released end of 2012 and features musicians such as gregory porter, ronnie cuber, renee neufville or john robinson. on that session, rongetz goal was to dig more than ever into compositions that are bridging jazz with hip-hop and soul music.
